Feet. Walls. Yoga.

I’ve always put my feet on the walls, fallen backwards off couches and generally liked sitting any way that’s not straight up. (And I have an office based job, sheesh! It’s a wonder I’m as sane as I am.)

A few days ago I was flopping around on the bed, uncomfortable & waiting to leave for my doctors appointment for my swollen & sore throat. (I have tonsillitis again, yay. Evil recurring bastard.) I ended up lying sideways on the bed with my feet up the wardrobe.

Then I realised I was probably doing some expensive yoga pose. Upward dog, maybe?

Then I got annoyed. This may have been the infection, slightly feverish ramblings of a sick person, but I started yelling about how people are stupid to pay someone to teach them to climb on things and sit in funny ways when they could just try it themselves for free & fun.

(And then my husband suggested it’s not smart to yell while I had a sore throat so I ran away from him into the lounge room.)

Why do adults turn everything that they do, including things that should be fun, into an appointment and chore?

You know what we need? Playgrounds for adults. Not like that, I don’t like where your mind went. I mean slides. A ball pit. Excuse the highly local reference that is terrible for the internet, but we need something like the told Tops amusement park in Brisbane Myer Centre.

Also, I wonder what workplaces would save in stress leave and associated expenses if they just had ball pits for staff to play in.

(I’m not actually against yoga – I’m a believer in if an activity/lifestyle/diet/whatever works for you, then it’s the right thing to do – it was just the activity my feverish mind went with to attack.)

Would you use an adult playground?

  1. I am so there! We should just take over kids playgrounds… I mean, fuck the kids… well, not “fuck” the kids… but you know what I mean… we’re bigger than them… we can just take one over… make it ours!!! Bags first go on the swings!!! 🙂

    1. I do like to play on the local flying fox at night 🙂 It’s a bummer when I drive past and there are kids playing on it. How dare they!? 🙂

  2. Sounds awesome to me! I’ve recently got into Yoga and downloaded an app. It wasn’t much maybe $5 or $6 and it is amazing. I feel so refreshed and alive. Wanky but true!

    1. I’ve tried it on the Wii and that’s about it 🙂
