What I Loved: Spare Time Edition

FireFly JB Hi Fi

There’s a bit of irony in calling this the spare time edition. I’ve just finished three weeks of working full time. Not a shocking thing, in itself, but seeing as I’ve only been working three days a week for the past 7 months, jumping back up to full time temporarily has left me with zero energy. I’m grateful for the work and the extra money, but it has seriously dented my ability to blog. Or really do anything other than come home, eat dinner, sleep and repeat the next day.

So why is it called the Spare Time Edition? Well, I noticed that despite feeling buggered and not really up to doing much, I still had plenty of good things happen in my (limited) spare time of the week.

BurgerUrge Burger

It was my birthday on Monday, so I took myself out for a date during my lunch break. I was wandering and didn’t know what to buy, when a voucher for free fries with a burger ended up in my hands. Burger Urge, your marketing works. And your food is delicious.

I headed into JB after work on Friday and bought Firefly. When Lauren found out I hadn’t seen Firefly, I got in a great deal of trouble and we spent a few #FireflyFriday evenings watching it. Then I borrowed it from her. I don’t know why; it’s not like I wasn’t going to buy it!! So now I have my own copy. And I know I’m 10 years late to the party, but, well….screw you, Fox!

Nikki Parkinson Styling You Typical Day Blogging

The real reason I stayed out on Friday after work (something I never do, because Friday evenings are for collapsing on the couch, right?) was to go see Nikki Parkinson from Styling You talk blogging at the Brisbane Apple store. There were a ton of new or about to start bloggers there, which was so exciting to see. More bloggers in Brisbane!

I generally hate having my photo taken. And I hate putting it online. But I’m a blogger, so it’s a little unavoidable (though I generally do a good job of avoiding it). What better way to start posting photos online than in a photo with one of the nicest and most successful bloggers around?

Blogger Cutoffs

Yesterday I had the best shopping day of my life. I picked up some things for a competition I’ll be running when I finish off a secret project, had breakfast out, spent a $10 voucher in Kikki K. And found out that bloggers have their own shorts. (I’m guessing Supre think that all bloggers are female.)

I’m on the quest to find a good bag for work days; I cram a lot of crap (I’m out of the house 12 hours a day usually, so: breakfast, lunch, headphones, water bottle, snacks, a book, phone chargers etc) in my bags and they break easily.  Which is generally giving me the shits, because even when I spend more on a bag, they still seem to break. What’s the point of a large tote if it can’t tote a large amount of stuff? I would really love something like this, but my electricity company would probably prefer I paid them $360 rather than a bag company. Adulthood – who needs it?

On this quest, I may or may not stalk people through the city in order to get a photo of a bag I like. Such as this one:

Bag stalked

I thought it looked sturdy and like it would fit all of my aforementioned daily crap, possibly without breaking too. I was swinging by a favourite tip shop of mine (Brisbane City Council Geebung shop) and what do I find in the bag section but:

UM!! FREAKY! So I bought the bag I was stalking someone over for an entire $1.50 yesterday. (It also occurs to me that I should stop using the word stalk, but I can’t think of a better word.) SCORE!

I also found a few things in the same tip shop for a secret DIY project I’ve been working on slowly for months. I can’t wait until I finish it and get to share it with you. Hopefully by Christmas-ish time I will have op-shopped all the things I need for it.

And that has been my week – how was yours?

And congrats again on the bag find, that is pretty darn freaky! I’m still on the hunt!

    1. You sure do 🙂 Total op shop fluke, but I’ll take the credit of being skilled at it instead haha.

  3. […] say it: somehow, despite only working two and a half days this week, it felt longer than all the five day weeks I’ve done recently. I haven’t worked out how that’s possible yet, but I know […]
