How NOT to make breakfast when you’re sick

How NOT to make Breakfast when you're sick

This is the story of my Saturday morning, which is a perfect guide on how NOT to make breakfast when you’re sick (I have tonsillitis and a cold).

How NOT to make Breakfast when you're sick

Firstly neither of us had done the dishes Friday night (we don’t keep many dishes on purpose, so we have to wash up a lot, but were lazy).

Then I nearly poured my hot water into my cereal bowl instead of my tea cup.

Ran to lounge room for tissue emergency. Washed hands.

Then I realised we had no milk and I was too lazy to clean the container and make more (we’ve been using powdered milk to save money for most of this year).

I wondered what we had that was quick food. Remembered we had cheese and crackers.

Sure, that’s a balanced breakfast.

Grabbed carrots out of the fridge by mistake.

Ran to lounge room for tissue emergency. Washed hands.

Only noticed they were carrots and not cheese when I started to put them onto the crackers.

Swore.

Ran to lounge room for tissue emergency. Washed hands.

Tried to find cheese.

Couldn’t work out where knife was.

Ran to lounge room for tissue emergency. Washed hands.

Cut the cheese.

Remembered I was making tea and took the teabag out of the cup.

Carried tea and cheese successfully into living room and collapsed on couch.

Thought – wow, that really shouldn’t have been hard.

What’s your go-to lazy food for when you’re sick and a bit dumb?

  1. Ha, I wish we could use powdered milk to save money – my 4yo turns his nose up at UHT milk even! I can’t taste the difference between that and fresh.

    1. I don’t use milk much, so I don’t mind, though my husband would really prefer we didn’t have the powdered stuff!

  2. Why the heck didn’t you move the tissues to where you were?? Get well soon! x

    1. My brain has been replaced entirely by snot 🙁

  3. Oh you poor thing. What a shock carrots and crackers would have been! I have a sinus infection at the moment so I have some understanding of your misery – hope you are well on the way to recovery soon x

  4. One word – CHOCOLATE – it fixes everything

  5. Cheese and crackers – when consumed with white wine – form part of a perfectly balanced diet. Minus the snot. Hope you’re feeling better today xx
