How To Adapt To A New Routine

As you can tell from other posts I’m used to getting up at the crack of dawn and speeding out of the house. No longer, it seems. This new contract I’m on has set start and finishing times and is somewhat close to home.

What this means is that I can get out of bed at a time where previously I would have been nearly at the end of my long commute.

How To Adapt To A New Routine

Three or four years ago, I had horrendous sleep patterns due to a number of factors and they made lot of aspects of my life very hard to deal with. In hindsight, of course. I didn’t know that’s what made my life miserable at the time. Hindsight is always a bit mean that way.

Ever since I identified how important sleep is to me, and how I feel, I’ve made sure I keep myself to a routine. And now that routine has totally changed. Naturally this happens when last week was the busiest week I’ve had this year (full time across two jobs, one of those a new job, something on after work 4 out of the 5 days).

So I’m feeling a little lost. I’ve set myself a new bed time and alarm time, and I’m trying to force myself to adapt to a new routine. It’s surprisingly hard to stay up later and wake up later when you’ve always been a crack of dawn person. I’m having to force myself to stay awake. And there’s nothing on TV to keep my interest, either…

How do you adapt to a new routine? So far the ‘set’ bed times and alarm times are the only way I’m managing it.

I should be glad for a lesser commute and stuff, but right now I’m wiped from it so I kind of want my old one back!
See you in a day or so, yay!

  2. Well my blog post today is about worrying and my inability to adapt to change so I would say that I don’t adapt well at all lol.

Haha yes I did read your post! I’m sort of ok with change (or I have so much of it so often I have no choice but to be), but it’s the middle bit of going through it ….bleh.
